Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists
The Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) is the national professional association and certifying body for radiological, nuclear medicine and magnetic resonance imaging technologists and radiation therapists. Recognized at home and internationally as a leading advocate for the profession of medical radiation technology, the CAMRT is an authoritative voice on the critical issues that affect its members and their practice. Established in 1942, the CAMRT today represents over 12,000 members.
Canadian Organization of Medical Physicists
The Canadian Organization of Medical Physicists (COMP) is the main professional body for medical physicists practicing in Canada. Membership is composed of professional physicists, scientists, and academics located at universities, hospitals, cancer centres, and government research facilities such as the National Research Council, Medical Physics graduate students and post-doctoral fellows are also eligible for membership. Every member has an educational or professional background in physics or engineering as it applies to medicine.
Sonography Canada
Established on January 1, 2014, Sonography Canada serves as the unified national voice for the sonography profession in Canada, created from the amalgamation of the Canadian Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (CSDMS) and the Canadian Association of Registered Diagnostic Ultrasound Professionals (CARDUP). Representing over 6,500 members, the association supports the profession with national credentials, entry-to-practice credentialing exams indicating adherence to national educational and competency standards, and advocates for sonographers’ interests. It also offers continuous professional development opportunities through webinars, workshops, an annual national conference, and resources like the Canadian Journal of Medical Sonography. Additionally, Sonography Canada provides standardized policy and professional practice guidelines based on the Sonography Canada National Competency Profiles, aimed at ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, high-quality, and ethical patient care across Canada.
